LYMPHOGRANULOMA VENEREUM

This disease occurs mostly in tropical and semi-tropical areas of developing countries.

Cause: the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis

Symptoms: small genital lesions and ulcers

Complications: infection and ulceration of lymph nodes in the groin, tissue damage, scarring

Treatment: prolonged antibiotics

Prevention: Avoid contact with genital ulcers. Condoms only protect what they cover.
