When my brother asked me to write a chapter in his book, I was pleased. We have discussed these ideas as we have run around the islands.

I have taken a vows of chastity and celibacy so I do not express my sexuality in the physical realm. I have counseled many men and women about sexual concerns and problems. From that perspective I'll discuss the spiritual aspects of physical union.

In ancient Hawaii the healers understood that body, mind and spirit are intertwined. The purpose of life is to get closer to God by working and loving. Whatever your life's work is, always do your best; your work is God's work. Make maximum use of your talents and encourage others to do the same.

In relationships each person must strive to increase their ability to accept and express love and affection. Sex is one way to show your feelings.

God does things right. He didn't make a mistake with sex. All of its aspects are exactly as He intended. It is supposed to be all the things that it is: exciting, powerful, compelling, funny, scary, mysterious. All of the rules of life apply in the area of sex. For example, it is more blessed to give than to receive.

The body is the temple of the soul. Treat yours and others with respect.

I believe that increasing the amount of love in the world is very important right now. This idea came to me in a very vivid dream.

In the dream I was up in space looking down at the world. At one point I looked away from the earth into space and was instantly engulfed in a brilliant white cloud. Through the mist I saw a figure approaching. I could see that it was Jesus. He kind of looked like some paintings I've seen, but it was the look in His eyes that identified Him. His gaze was one of absolute, unconditional Love. It was more wonderful than words can tell.

Then we looked down at the world together. Initially it looked like to me as it had before. Then He asked me if I wanted to see it as He saw it. Of course I wanted to and expected to see something really marvelous. What happened was quite remarkable! The whole planet grew very dark, except for occasional brief, tiny flashes of light.

He explained that all He saw when He looked at the earth was the love in the hearts of the people. There was sadness in his voice as He pointed out the vast darkness and the small areas of light.

Then He gave me the opportunity to see the future. He said, "This is how it will look in My eyes or man's, sometime between now and your year 2020. At that instant it was like a giant flashbulb, more intense than any I had ever seen.

Before I could ask what it meant, He said, "Although I created only Love, I gave you free will. You have created the absence of Love which is hate. There is a great deal of hate in the world though not as much as at many times in the past. The critical difference is the existence of weapons of mass destruction, chemical, biological and nuclear. These make it possible, for the very first, and the only, and the last, time for mankind to perish completely. The flash you saw could be global thermonuclear war. There is also a chance that the forces of Love will prevail and prevent the insanity from happening. This would bring about heaven on earth. The glow from that Love would light the universe. The choice is up to you."

Then He gave me the choice of remaining where I was or returning to the world. I chose to return. As I turned to leave His presence, a question came into my mind about what my mission in life now was to be. His answer came before my thought was completed, "Take care of My children."

This is the miracle for which I pray: Peace in the world!

True peace can only come when all nations are guided by individuals committed to love. Start with the woman in the mirror. Let love guide your life. The only thing necessary for the forces of evil to prevail is for good men and good women to do too little.

First, love and accept yourself. Next, love all of those around you, and allow them to love you. Finally, love all of God's children. When enough of us do this the world will be saved. Make a commitment to be part of the winning team. Begin with your family and friends.

If you decide to be sexually active, do it with love. When you share your commitments I suggest that you pick a spiritual place like a church, or a beach. You don't have to be religious, only willing to believe in something greater than you.

What this song means to me is that when two or more join in Love, God is present. Some years ago I met Paul Stookey (of the folk singing group Peter, Paul & Mary) backstage at the Waikiki Shell. I thanked him and congratulated him for this masterpiece. He accepted saying, "I was happy to be the channel." By that he meant that God wrote the song, and that he was only the writing instrument.
