FEMALE CONDOM
This is a barrier method of birth control similar to the male condom. It's sold under the brand
name Reality. Instead of covering the penis it covers the inside of the vagina.
Advantages:
- The women has more control.
- No prescription or clinic visit is necessary.
- Complete instructions for use are packaged with it.
- It can be placed several hours before sexual contact.
- Since it's made of polyurethane plastic any lubricant can be used.
- It can be used by people who are allergic to latex rubber.
- It's fairly effective in preventing pregnancy and disease.
Disadvantages:
- It's not always easy to use. The man's penis can go outside the condom into the vagina.
- If placed in advance it can make rustling noises. During sex it can also make little noises.
- It's not available in as many places as male condoms.
- They cost $2 or $3 for one.
